Make a wearable souvenir for your best vacations!
My mother took my daughter and I on a cruise to Europe last year. I was trying to think of a jewelry piece to remember our trip by. We went to Norway, Germany, Amsterdam, Belgium and Paris! It was by far the most awesome vacation we have ever taken! A dream trip! My blog of the trip can be found here!
All the necklace items can be found at Hobby Lobby and some at Michaels.
For the map charm: I found a western European map online and saved it to a word doc. I decreased the size until it was just right, then printed it.
I used Mod Podge to glue the trimmed piece to card stock to give it weight and thickness. After it dried, I poked holes in the spots where we had stopped on our cruise, then glued the smallest diamond like gems I could find in each hole. I then glued the map into place in the frame and later covered the front with a thin coat of Mod Podge.
I used a piece from Michaels to add the charms. The middle one hanging form it is an extender and the others are charms I found at the two craft stores. I have an airplane for the flight over. A (storybook) cottage that reminds me of the buildings we saw in Brugge, Belgium. The Passport for obvious reasons. The Eiffel tower for our day in Paris and a key for the Diary of Anne Frank. We toured the house they hid in while we were in Amsterdam.
Does it look messy to you? I may change out the beads hanging in the middle of the circle, they are a bit too long.
I'm working on two more, I will list them and you can see the difference and which one looks the best.
